Case Study : YMCA

The refurbishment of the mechanical and electrical services including putting in place a water hygiene regime, replacing 5 water tanks, commissioning the under floor heating, ensuring that the electrical services were safe, implementing a program of portable appliance testing, refurbishing the lifts and having the fire alarm and emergency lighting upgraded.

We also implemented a ten year general maintenance plan and commenced the work within the plan, including decoration of all 180 bedrooms, landings and stairwells, a refurbishment of the reception and customer services area and replacement of doors and windows.

Towards the end of our contract we also worked with interior designers to design the bathrooms and bedrooms to provide functional and modern facilities.

Later in 2007 and 2008 we ran various training courses for their employees including display screen equipment assessor training and a bespoke course aimed at their extensive maintenance and housekeeping team which focussed on areas such as Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), signs and signals regulations, working at height, electrical safety, personal protective equipment (PPE), glazing and gas safety regulations.

'The bespoke training course for our operations team was relevant, the style of training was very effective and the pace just right' Patrick Brough, Maintenance Manager, YMCA, July 2008
